Understanding Codex usage limits and reset times.
A usage window describes an allowance over a period. A reset time tells you when a reported window is expected to refresh. HOUR5 is being developed to make these observations easier to see while you work.
Read the label before the percentage
A percentage needs context. Check whether the source describes used or remaining allowance, which account it belongs to and which window it measures. Different windows can apply to the same account. Do not treat one percentage as a complete picture of every limit.
Check the source and observation time
Start with the usage information available in your Codex account or client. Check the window label and reset information there. If a companion app shows a different value, compare observation times and confirm the connected account. Refresh scheduling and delayed sync can leave an older value on another device.
Subscription limits are not API token costs
A reported subscription allowance and an API billing balance are different measurements. A remaining percentage is not a dollar balance or an exact count of prompts you can send. Consult OpenAI’s current Codex pricing documentation for plan details and current limits.
How HOUR5 helps
HOUR5 brings reported Codex windows and reset times into a native Mac account overview. Optional usage sync can make observations available on iPhone. Widgets display local snapshots, so freshness depends on the app and system scheduling. If a source does not expose a measurement, HOUR5 leaves it unavailable.
Can HOUR5 remove a limit?
No. The provider determines your allowance. HOUR5 does not change your subscription, remove restrictions or guarantee uninterrupted access. Its role is visibility, helping you plan with the information a connected source supplies.
Try HOUR5 when it launches
The Mac and iPhone apps are in development, with no public App Store release yet. Join the launch list or read what HOUR5 does. No payment is required to join.
